Carbon Capture, Storage and Recycling Conference

On April 10th, we were proud to host a dynamic and forward-thinking conference on CO₂ Capture & Recycling at BLOX in central Copenhagen. As the world accelerates its efforts to reduce industrial emissions, this event brought together leading voices and pioneering initiatives that are driving meaningful change toward a more sustainable future.

This event served as a platform to explore real-world solutions to one of today’s most urgent challenges: reducing carbon emissions in hard-to-abate industries. Moderated by Thomas Canguilhem, CEO of EcoTree International, member of our board and Chairman of our ESG Committee, the evening featured 3 expert speakers diving into innovative solution, and valuable networking opportunities.

🔹 Session 1: ACCSION Project – Decarbonizing the Cement Industry

Speakers: Søren Konstmann Lausen (Aalborg Portland) & Bertrand Baratte (Air Liquide)

We began the conference with a spotlight on the ACCSION Project, a major initiative led by Aalborg Portland and Air Liquide. Cement production is one of the largest sources of industrial CO₂ emissions—but this collaboration is working to change that.

The project aims to capture 1.4 million tons of CO₂ annually from Denmark’s largest cement plant and store it permanently underground onshore. With support from the EU and €220 million in funding, this effort pioneers a significant step toward large-scale decarbonization of the cement industry in Denmark and Europe.

🔹 Session 2: Bifrost Project – Offshore CO₂ Storage with TotalEnergies

Speaker: David Nevicato, CCS Bifrost Asset Manager (TotalEnergies)

In our second session, we turned to the North Sea, where TotalEnergies, in partnership with Nordsøfonden, is leading the Bifrost Project—an ambitious offshore carbon storage initiative.

By repurposing existing gas infrastructure, including the Harald platform and the Syd Arne–Nybro pipeline, the project aims to store more than 5 million tons of CO₂ annually by 2030. This initiative demonstrates how legacy energy infrastructure can be used to achieve modern climate goals and reduce the carbon footprint of heavy industries.

🔹 Session 3: ENOSIS – Recycling CO₂ into Renewable Fuel

Speaker: Vincent Guerré, CEO (ENOSIS)

Our final session featured a truly innovative approach from France-based ENOSIS, a company that transforms captured CO₂ into renewable e-methane using a patented biological methanation technology.

CEO Vincent Guerré shared how ENOSIS is now commissioning its first industrial-scale plant, integrated into a biomethane facility, to create clean fuel from recycled CO₂. This solution not only reduces emissions but also supports the development of carbon-neutral fuels for homes, transport, and industry.

Following the presentations, we welcomed guests to a networking cocktail, where professionals across sectors had time to engage and ask questions.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our distinguished speakers, our moderator, and all attendees who contributed to the success of this event. Together, we are shaping the conversation—and the future—of sustainable industry.
